Kashamba Ian is an East African Ugandan young contemporary visual artist. Born on
2nd, February,1996. I am a full-time visual artist that applies his skills in painting, drawing,
textile designing,printmaking and mural art.
I'm interested in spiritual, physical and mental aesthetics and sometimes
how art relates to our way of living. Spiritualism is one of the major things
that intrigues me the most and I like merging it with themes like racism,
suffering, power, religion, politics and many others. I also express my
hopes, desires and dreams on the human experience in my work. My style
has been influenced largely by expressionism, surrealism, surreal
expressionism, realism, pop art and minimalism. I prefer surrealism the
most reason being, it’s the one that really connects with my very
subconscious dream like reality every time I close my eyes. In relation to
art materials that I use to create my artworks are acrylics, oils, ink, dry
paint, canvas and many others.
He has exhibited at the Seyna Art Gallery, two times in a group exhibition dubbed,
head and heart, abstraction;.
He was also one of the Ugandan local artists listed by an American sculptor called
Erik Blome in partnership with the American Embassy in Uganda to create a mural
painting in a small town called Kalerwe in Kampala.
