What This Policy Covers

Ubuntu-AI uses a small number of cookies and similar browser storage technologies so you can stay signed in and keep basic display preferences. This page explains what we set, what third parties may set when you use certain features, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Essential Cookies

We use authentication cookies provided by NextAuth so you can create an account, sign in, and stay signed in. These cookies are required for the platform to work:

• next-auth.session-token (on HTTPS: __Secure-next-auth.session-token) — your signed-in session
• next-auth.csrf-token (on HTTPS: __Host-next-auth.csrf-token) — protects sign-in forms from cross-site request forgery
• next-auth.callback-url (on HTTPS: __Secure-next-auth.callback-url) — remembers where to send you after you sign in

These cookies are used whether you sign in with email and password, Google, or Discord.

Functional Cookies and Local Storage

We also store a few preferences so the interface behaves consistently. These are not used for advertising:

• sidebar:state — a cookie that remembers whether the forums sidebar is open or collapsed (kept for up to 7 days)
• theme — local storage for light or dark appearance
• sidebarOpen — local storage for the admin sidebar layout
• hasSeenPromptTutorial — local storage so the prompts tutorial is not shown again after you have seen it

Third-Party Services

Some features take you to, or load content from, other companies. Those companies may set their own cookies on their domains. Ubuntu-AI does not control those cookies:

• Stripe — donations redirect to Stripe Checkout. Stripe may set cookies on stripe.com while you complete a payment.
• Google and Discord — if you sign in with either provider, that provider may set cookies during authentication.
• Forum embeds — forum posts can include embedded third-party content (for example a YouTube video). Viewing an embed may allow that service to set cookies.

Optional social share buttons on the donate page open Facebook, X, or LinkedIn share pages. We do not load advertising or tracking pixels from those networks on our site.

What We Do Not Use

Ubuntu-AI does not use:

• First-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics or GTM)
• Advertising or retargeting pixels
• Session-replay, heatmapping, or error-tracking scripts in the browser

How to Control Cookies

You can control cookies and similar storage in these ways:

• Sign out to end your Ubuntu-AI session. Your browser will no longer need the session cookie to keep you signed in.
• Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in.
• Clear site data to reset theme, sidebar, and tutorial preferences stored in local storage.
