My name is Prince Edwarles Mawanda of Michelangelo College of Creative Arts was named after the celebrated Artist “MICHELANGELO,” who was, and still is a major inspiration to many great Artists. This college was founded by the Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga (Bannakaroli Brothers) in 1989. The Noble idea was initiated by its founding Director and Principal who is a professional and talented Artist. To contribute to the professionalization of Art in Uganda and the world over by promoting Art and Design through appropriately designed teaching programmes and research for sustainable development.
Our art focuses, sculpture, Painting, Graphics, Computer Graphics, Textile design, Multimedia Crafts. This is an opportunity for the art students to work with full freedom to explore and experiment with whatever material available. It is also designed to promote artists to develop their ideas and so establish a forum to enrich their ideas through interaction and exhibiting their art work globally. The artists share a number of presentations and talks with the artists’ communities about the knowledge, skills and techniques involved in their art work.
This sculpture is expresses one of beautiful and proud Species of bird- The Peacock, it can be used a décor outdoor or as a flower pot. The Peacock is one of the endangered species and this art piece express an invitation of Peahen for mating. In real life, looking at this tail feathers; you see elegance and true beauty and when sculpted into an Art piece create and express true beauty and royalty. The Congo peacock is the only large ‘phasianid’ in Africa. The cock is mainly blue and green with a short rounded tail. The hen is reddish and green with a brown topknot. The species is smaller than those in genus Pavo, growing to roughly between 64 and 70 cm (25 to 28 inches) in length by adulthood.
