"Leaves of the palm tree" pattern

some text

I am Selamawit Kassie from Ethiopia. I live in the Amhara region, North Wollo. Lalibela is my home town, famous for its church carved from a single block of stone. My colorful basket pattern is called "leaves of the palm tree". It is a project is that I usually do as part of my business income. The the raw materials that I use are local grasses, bound with colorful threads. Grass is free, and needle and thread has a low cost. So it can be done even by those of us with low income. To make one basket it may take two or three days, depending on size of the basket. We Ethiopians use the colorful baskets to decorate our homes. And we also use it to deliver food at the time of the coffee ceremony.
