I am Eletu-Odibo Aishah, a Lagos-based undergraduate artist. My work amplifies the ability to face injustice, advocate for equality, and promote human rights. I aim to honor our shared humanity and the courage that comes from fighting together for what is right in my art. TITLE: "OLD SOLDIER BOY" MEDIUM: OIL ON CANVAS STYLE: IMPRESSIONISM SIZE: 24 by 24 inches (2 by 2 ft) DESCRIPTION: This art work is my first impressionist style that depicts two images of a pair of shoes and a stack of books. It depicts the life of a soldier who is known for their extreme toughness and intelligence in times of conflict. The pair of shoes represent the "soldiers," while the stacked books represent heroes,human right activists, and nationalists. This piece demonstrates the courage of our past leaders, from all directions. The green shoes depict "nigeria," while the books depict "the great nationalist tradition," soldiers, and anyone else who goes out of their way to advocate what is right. The ground color represents the hardships that nigeria is facing. Life is divided into two parts: the good and bad, the rough and rough, the sweet and bitter times, and at some point in time, a symbol of hope appears, and this is shown in this piece in purple. As they say, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I am with the belief that nigeria will be better someday because i know that our past heroes' efforts, the soldiers, nationalists, and human rights activists who fought, are still fighting, and will continue to fight, will never be in vain.
