some text

I, Alawiye Yesirah Temilde, a Nigerian artist that hails from Ogun state, is passionate about using mix media to create artwork. I started getting interested in art during my secondary school days, I started loving it whenever I'm given any art assignment to craft or paint something and my parents fully supported me. This artwork titled "Awelewa" is a mixed media artwork that celebrates the uncommon beauty of three female figures. Painted in black colors, each portrait exudes a sense of strength and grace. The use of fabric as head ties adds a tactile and cultural dimension, symbolizing the rich heritage and traditions that shape their identities. The title "Awelewa" (meaning uncommon beauty in Yoruba) highlights the distinctive qualities that make each woman special. Through this piece, I am showcasing the beauty that lies in the uncommon, the unusual, and the unexplored. The fabric head ties also represent the ways in which culture and tradition can adorn and enrich our lives.
