Hey there, I am Chizota Diamond, an artist from Nigeria studying in Ghana. My artwork, "Xenoka Grid Project," is about creating a future where Africa incorporates a high level of technology without losing sight of our origin, our culture, our way of life. A strong African girl with a super cybernetic arms, racing through a bustling Local market in Africa with her traditional wear is the best way Known to me to showcase that. This is my way of saying, "We can have it all!" Modern tech and rich culture can go hand in hand. I started creating Afrofuturistic art when I realized that I Loved everything about the Tech world so much, also considering the fact that I am studying computer sciences and the growth potential it had, but as an African child, our elders always reminded us that our culture came first especially as an Igbo girl with traditional obligations to my parents, community, children, and husband. I could never stray too far from our culture, If I did, how will my children Know the story of their ancestors?
Who will introduce them to the Local dance steps of "Umu-nwanyi Imo state"(Imo state women)?
Our cultural practice would be cut short because me and I certainly don't want that to happen.
But I ask, can't we have them both?
