I am Hellen Wanjiku Abraham, a fashion designer from Kenya this project was my last school project where I was supposed to create a bridal gown with inspiration from an authentic African wedding, where I chose the labola from South Africa. Other details were, the Victorian corset, and 3d applique. The gown features a red overlap under shirt, a golden pleated skirt, and a purple Victorian corset over garment. This three colours are all significant in both the Chinese and the Ndebele people. The purple over garment was printed with a Ndebele geometric pattern that symbolises movement and progress. The gown was accompanied with a brass headdress that was a combination of a crown and fascinator and a veil. Other materials used were horse hair net, beads horns and fish line.
